Fritz Frazier bought a snow removal company and renamed it Winter Services Inc. when he grew tired of working in the corporate world and acted on his goal to become his own boss.
Now Frazier thinks about snow, and snow removal, all year long. Winter Services provides total snow removal including plowing, de-icing, ice control, shoveling, sidewalk clearing and maintenance.
The company has 15 full-time employees and 350 seasonal employees.
Frazier says he constantly strives to do more and do it better, a philosophy he impresses upon the rest of his team. Frazier said he is never satisfied, which has contributed to his success.
The company strives to provide a high level of customer service and boasts a healthy client renewal rate.
“It is our job to provide solutions to our customers,” said Frazier. “Each customer is different and has unique needs.”
Frazier said Winter Services would not be successful today if not for the dedication of the company’s staff.
“I learned early on that a person is only as good as the people they surround themselves with,” said Frazier. “I lead by example, I established my role in the organization, set expectations, manage those expectations and then hold people accountable.”
Frazier encourages a pro-active approach to snow removal by reaching out to potential clients offering Winter Services’ assistance. By planning ahead, organizations can decrease potential weather hazards and Winter Services’ contingency plan guarantees additional staff and equipment no matter the conditions.
