Finnish company to move some Illinois operations to Pleasant Prairie

Organizations:

Hyvinkaa, Finland-based Konecranes plans to relocate its operations in Gurnee, Ill., to a 45,479-square-foot space in a 60,256-square-foot building that was built by Milwaukee-based Zilber Property Group in Pleasant Prairie.

The building is located at 9505 72nd Ave., at the southwest corner of 95th Street and Green Bay Road in Pleasant Prairie.

Konecranes plans to have 37 to 40 full-time employees at the Pleasant Prairie facility. The company is a global manufacturer of cranes, forklift trucks, load manipulators, and other heavy duty and light lifting equipment. The company also provides maintenance, inspection, and repair services, as well as parts replacement, for cranes and machine tools.

The company will use the Pleasant Prairie facility to engineer and assemble electrical control components.

The company currently has four other locations in the Milwaukee area, with two facilities in New Berlin, one in Waukesha and one in Oak Creek.

Konecranes will be the latest of several businesses that have moved operations from Illinois to Pleasant Prairie in recent years. That trend was analyzed in a report in the latest BizTimes Milwaukee magazine.
