Brent Emery is an Olympic silver medalist in men’s cycling. Now, as owner of Milwaukee-based Emerys Cycling, Triathlon & Fitness, Emery has shared his passion for the sport with the community in several ways. In 2009, the company partnered with Variety-The Children’s Charity of Wisconsin on its adaptive bike initiative.
Variety’s mission is to provide life-enriching assistance to Wisconsin children challenged by disabilities. Emerys plays a critical role in providing customized, adaptive bikes for children with disabilities and allows them the opportunity for freedom, confidence, independence and lifelong fitness.
Emerys works closely with the child, parents and their therapists to assess the needs and ability of each child. Once the assessment is complete, Emerys orders and modifies each bike to fit perfectly.
Since 2009, Emerys has helped Variety provide more than 100 children with adaptive bikes, valued at more than $2,000 each. The organization has saved nearly $100,000 on these bikes thanks to the partnership.
