Brookfield-based MyHealthDirect, the nationโ€™s first and only health care scheduling exchange, announced today that its board of directors has appointed Tom Cox to be its chief executive officer.

Cox is a current MyHealthDirect board member. He will succeed MyHealthDirect founder Jay Mason, who will remain with the company and continue to serve as a board member.
Cox joins the company full-time after serving as chief operating officer of Healthways Inc., a global provider of well-being improvement solutions, where he oversaw sales, marketing and communications, market and delivery operations. Previously, he served as president of Concentra Network Services.
โ€œIโ€™m thrilled to be joining MyHealthDirect,โ€ said Cox. โ€œThe companyโ€™s approach to system-wide patient scheduling will be a critical part of helping our healthcare system become more efficient, effective and user-friendly.โ€
โ€œIโ€™m pleased that Tom Cox has agreed to lead MyHealthDirect,โ€ Mason said. โ€œTomโ€™s deep healthcare provider experience, high-level industry relationships and leadership qualities will help drive MyHealthDirect to a new level. Iโ€™m delighted that the company has grown at the pace and level where it can attract an executive of Tomโ€™s caliber.โ€
Backed by Chrysalis Ventures and Arboretum Ventures, MyHealthDirect provides its health care scheduling exchange services through a web-based platform to enable health plans, hospital systems, physician groups and other participants in care delivery to search for, schedule and confirm appointments on behalf of patients.
