Menomonee Falls-based Cousins Subs has partnered with a real estate data firm to develop a strategy for future sites across the Midwest.

โ€œWe want to grow out from Wisconsin,โ€ said Joe Ferguson, vice president of development for Cousins Subs. โ€œWeโ€™re looking at Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois and possibly Indiana.โ€

There are about 100 Cousins locations in Wisconsin and Arizona, about 25 percent are corporate stores and 75 percent are franchisee-operated.

Ferguson said Cousins may add a few locations in Wisconsin, outside of the Milwaukee area. If so, those stores would be near Madison or Janesville.

โ€œThen we could move south, into Northern Illinois,โ€ he said.

Fort Worth, Texas-based Buxon will work with Cousins through winter and should have a site selection plan by spring, Ferguson said.

A new corporate store takes about three to six months to open; franchisee locations take about nine months, Ferguson said.
