County Board panel to review all Downtown Transit Center development proposals

After hearing a closed session report about the responses to a developer request for information (RFI) for the Downtown Transit Center site, Monday the Milwaukee County Board’s Economic and Community Development Committee voted to have all of the four developers that responded to the RFI make presentations on their proposals. The presentations will occur in closed session at the committee’s next meeting on July 16.

According to sources, the four developers that have submitted development proposals in response to the RFI for the Downtown Transit Center are: Wauwatosa-based Irgens, Wauwatosa-based Wangard Companies, Rick Barrett (the lead developer for The Moderne) and Minneapolis-based Ryan Cos. Those developers will make presentations to the Economic and Community Development Committee on July 16.

Irgens is also working on an office building development for the U.S. Bank Center annex parking structure site, located just west of the Downtown Transit Center.

County officials have declined to name any of the developers that responded to the RFI.
County Executive Chris Abele’s office planned to select the top project for the Downtown Transit Center site and, if it is considered viable, seek County Board approval to begin negotiations with the developer.

However, Pat Jursik, chairwoman of the County Board’s Economic Development Committee, said county supervisors want to see all of the responses to the RFI.
