A country music themed bar and restaurant, called Jackson’s On Third, is planned for the building at 1023 N. Old World Third St. in downtown Milwaukee. The building was previously occupied by Irish Rec Room, which closed in 2013.
Jackson’s On Third LLC is seeking tavern, restaurant and entertainment licenses from the city. Mark Zierath of Elm Grove is listed as the owner of the business on the license applications. Zierath was the general manager at Molly Cool’s, a restaurant on Old World Third Street that closed earlier this year. He was also involved with Bootlegger’s, which occupied the 1023 N. Old World Third St. building prior to Irish Rec Room.
Zierath has a contract to purchase the building. He declined to comment on his plans for Jackson’s On Third because the financing deal has not been completed.
According to the license application, Zierath plans to do a $260,000 renovation to the three-story, 13,000-square-foot building.
Jackson’s On Third would be a country music themed bar and restaurant with some live acts. It would serve “gourmet pub food,” according to the license application. The plans also show 8 to 10 mini bowling alley lanes and five “amusement machines.”
Jackson’s On Third would have 18 full-time employees and 40 part-time employees.
