The Container Store is hiring 50 people to staff its new store at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa.
The Coppell, Texas-based storage and organization product retailer which will open the newly constructed store on Saturday, Sept. 12. It is located just east of the Nordstrom department store, which is scheduled to open on Oct. 23.
The Container Store is currently accepting applications for the position, and is conducting both group and individual interviews. Online applications are available at www.containerstore.com/careers.
No previous retail experience is required for the positions, for which the Container Store is seeking motivated sellers. According to the retailer, each full-time salesperson receives 266 hours of training in his or her first year, compared to the industry average of seven to 10 hours.
The Container Store also says it pays its salespeople 50 to 100 percent higher than the retail industry average.
“A funny thing happens when you take the time to educate your employees, pay them well and treat them as equals. You end up with extremely motivated and enthusiastic people,” said Kip Tindell, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer.
The Container Store plans to donate 10 percent of its Mayfair grand opening weekend sales to the Junior League of Milwaukee, a women’s organization that works to improve the community.
