Concordia receives donations for pharmacy scholarships

Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon recently formed the Galen Society of the CUW school of pharmacy. The society has raised more than $140,000 to support scholarships for future pharmacists. Two donations of $50,000 were recently made that will help the Galen Society Scholarship Fund by providing assistance to pharmacy students interested in careers in independent retail pharmacy.
One of the donations was made by Milwaukee’s Northwestern Mutual Foundation, the other was made by as an anonymous gift by a member of the university’s board of regents.
“These donations of $50,000 will allow the Galen Society to provide financial assistance to needy pharmacy students who begin their training here in August,” said Curt Gielow, executive dean of Concordia University Wisconsin’s School of Pharmacy. “We are very grateful to this individual and The Northwestern Mutual Foundation for their support of these worthy students and this program.”
Construction of the School of Pharmacy building is expected to be completed for the 2011 fall semester. The first graduating class will begin courses this fall.
