Officials with Concordia University Wisconsin, located in Mequon, are considering plans to purchase the Mequon Country Club, located at 12400 N. Ville Du Parc Dr., Mequon.
The country club has a 27-hole golf course, a swimming pool and six tennis courts. It was listed for sale earlier this year for $3.25 million. The property is being marketed by Siegel Gallagher Inc. and Links Capital Advisors Inc.
If Concordia purchased the country club, the university would operate it and use it for its sports management program, said vice president of marketing Anita Clark. The university is also considering plans to create a hospitality management program, which could also utilize the country club, she said.
“We are exploring the possibility of a purchase, but it’s very preliminary,” Clark said.
The Concordia Board of Regents would have to approve the purchase. Concordia staff are conducting due diligence on the country club and its operations, Clark said. University staff are discussing the matter and have not decided yet whether or not to present a purchase proposal to the board, said university president Patrick Ferry.
“It’s really at a point of just conversation right now,” Ferry said. “I think they have others who are interested (in purchasing the property) too.”
