Community Care to close Prospect Ave. location

Community Care Inc. plans to close a Milwaukee location and lay off 50 employees, according to a WARN notice filed with the state Tuesday.

The company is still determining the closure date for the Prospect Place branch, at 1825 N. Prospect Ave., but layoffs will begin on September 9.

The affected employees do not have bumping rights and are not represented by a union.

Community Care’s headquarters is in Brookfield. It also has two other Milwaukee location and branches in St. Francis, Kenosha, Mequon, Racine, Mount Pleasant, Sheboygan, Elkhorn, West Bend, Waukesha, Elm Grove, Appleton, Chilton and Waupaca.

The building was sold last year. It’s an older, inefficient building and the company’s leadership decided to find a more effective way to deliver residential care, said Luke Lauderback, marketing and communications specialist.

The 29 patients currently at Prospect Place will be moved to contracted independent residential facilities that are in the Community Care network. About 16 residents have already been placed elsewhere, Lauderback said.
