Charter Manufacturing Company announced Monday that it has purchased a 37,000-square-foot office building in Mequon and will relocate some of its employees from Saukville and its other locations to the new facility beginning Sept. 1.
The building, located at 12121 Corporate Parkway, is in the same business park as Charter’s current headquarters at 1212 W. Glen Oaks Lane. The Corporate Parkway building will house about 115 members of Charter’s information technology, human resources and finance teams.
The purchase price and the seller were not disclosed. The first group of Charter employees is expected to start moving into the new building Sept. 1.
Approximately 70 employees will move from Charter Manufacturing’s headquarters and another nearby company-owned building, both of which are on West Glen Oaks Lane in Mequon, and they will be joined by about 30 other associates currently working at Charter Steel in Saukville.
The company’s executive leadership team will stay in its current headquarters building.
“Teamwork is one of Charter’s core values, and acquiring this building offers an excellent opportunity to provide needed space and bring employees together in an atmosphere of collaboration, connectedness with an eye to the future,” John Mellowes, Charter Manufacturing CEO said in a written statement. “Growing into a new building is an important milestone for our fourth generation family-owned company, and we’re proud to be expanding our presence in Mequon, which has been home to our company headquarters since 1981.”
Charter Manufacturing is a privately-held family of companies that includes more than 2,000 employees who work across four businesses: Charter Steel, Charter Wire, Charter Automotive and Dura-Bar.
