Chamber director advances in election

Ann Nischke could be working in the legislative chambers rather than the business chambers come the new year. Nischke, executive director of the Waukesha Area Chamber of Commerce, garnered the most votes among Republican candidates in the recent primary election for the 97th state Assembly District seat.

Nischke, who has been the chamber’s executive director for 4-1/2 years. will face Democrat Roger Danielsen in the Nov. 5 general election.
Nischke says she is "taking vacation time very judiciously" to campaign, noting that she even has a separate cellphone for the campaign. If she wins in November, she will take office in January, and the chamber’s board would appoint a selection committee to seek a replacement.
Nischke says she’s had a long-time interest in politics, noting that she had once worked as a legislative aide for former state Sen. Rod Johnson of Fox Point. Her main issues in the campaign will be taxes and spending, followed by senior care. And yes, she’ll have business interests at heart, too.
Despite Waukesha County being heavily Republican, Danielsen noted that there were more Democratic votes cast in the primary than Republican votes.

Stanton hangs her own shingle
Sara Stanton, the former hospital administrator who in January of 2001 was hired by Waukesha-based public relations agency Seroka & Associates, Inc. to establish a health-care division, has hung a shingle for her own consulting practice at 2312 N. Grandview Blvd. in Waukesha. Stanton was jettisoned from Seroka Healthcare Marketing in June, only days after the division she founded was named one of the region’s Top 10 Small Businesses by the Waukesha Area Chamber of Commerce. According to the Wisconsin Division of Financial Institutions, Stanton Healthcare Management was incorporated on Aug. 31. The company will focus on customer service and management consulting for hospitals, hospital systems, long-term care organizations, medical practices, dental practices, and non-profit human service organizations.
Stanton has already hired former Aurora Health Care market development manager Mark Sorenson to handle new business duties.
Seroka vice president Scott Seroka said the agency is continuing to operate the health-care division in Stanton’s absence.
