Feingold, Allen and Stossel to speak at Lakeland College
Lakeland College’s Great Thinkers Series, designed to highlight the institution’s 150th anniversary, will include lectures from national figures like Russell Feingold, Will Allen and John Stossel. The series, which begins Thursday, Aug. 30, and continues throughout the 2012-‘13 school year, will feature topics like leadership, environmental issues and business with insight from experts in each field.

Veolia Water gives teachers tools for science experiments
Veolia Water Milwaukee is collaborating with Milwaukee Public Schools to teach fifth-grade students about water and the environment using a Water Box curriculum package. The company, which runs the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District’s Jones Island and South Shore sewage treatment plants, will likely donate up to 200 of the curriculum package kits to area teachers.
Target awards grants to MPS schools
Target Corp. awarded two K4-fifth grade schools in the Milwaukee Public School system with $25,000 grants through its $5 million Give With Target campaign, according to an announcement released Friday, Aug. 17.
