Capstone Investments, an institutional investment firm based in San Diego, Calif., with a banking and research office in Milwaukee, will hold its second annual Small Cap Investor Conference at the Midwest Airlines Center on June 17-18. The event will include 48 different public small-cap companies, who will make presentations and hold one-on-one meetings with hedge fund and mutual fund managers and other financial professionals. Financial managers from the Midwest, the East Coast and around the U.S. are expected to attend.
The presenters include Wisconsin-based companies such as Sonic Foundry Inc., Badger Meter Inc. and Magnetek Inc. The two-day event will also include national and global companies, many of which have operations in countries such as India, China, Canada and Israel. China Direct Inc., a Florida-based management and advisory organization that has controlling interest of several Chinese companies, is one of the companies that will present to investment managers at the conference. "We help small companies in China access U.S. capital markets," said Richard Galtiero, executive vice president of China Direct. "We take majority stakes in these companies and offer them the ability to gain financing quickly."
When China Direct takes a controlling interest, it also provides Chinese companies with both experienced managers, Galterio said. China Direct also consults companies that want to remain financially independent, helping them gain access to capital in the United States, because many small Chinese companies are not familiar with U.S. financial laws and regulations.
"If they want to be on their own and not a part of a larger entity, we provide a turn-key solution," Galtiero said. "We help build a brand for them, so they can work on the business." For more information on the Small-Cap Investor Conference, click here.
