California company acquires SmartLinc

Organizations:

Milwaukee-based SmartLinc Inc. has been acquired by Fremont, Calif.-based digital printing firm EFI.

SmartLinc makes software that is used to choose a carrier and track the status and cost of a shipment. It allows users to more easily analyze expenses, job delivery and other metrics.

EFI does not expect the acquisition to be material to its first quarter or full year results. Employees of SmartLinc, including former co-owners Greg Billinghurst and Scott Kwiatkowski, will join EFI.

“EFI and SmartLinc have many joint customers who will benefit from further, streamlined integration between their MIS/ERP and shipping systems,” said Marc Olin, EFI’s chief operating officer.

“EFI is the undisputed leader in printing workflow, and the products and service EFI offers reflect its passion for customer success,” said Robert Silberman, former president and co-owner of SmartLinc. “SmartLinc users will benefit tremendously from EFI driving enhancements to our proven shipping software platform.”
SmartLinc software will become EFI’s core shipping technology product.
