Metropolitan Builders Association
Metropolitan Builders Association (MBA), Waukesha, named Kevin Dittmar of Dittmar Realty Corp., Menomonee Falls, Builder of the Year; Christine Howard-Turowski of Priority Mortgage Corp., Brookfield, Associate of the Year and Joe Wendelberger of J. Anthony Homes, Pewaukee, Associate’s Choice. Dittmar hosted the Parade of Homes in 2004 and has served on the board of directors, membership task force and commercial council of the MBA. He has served as chair of government affairs for the past five years. Howard-Turowski is a past chairperson of the associate advisory board and was previously seated on the executive committee, board of directors, the membership committee and the AAB strategic planning sub-committee. Wendelberger received the Parade of Homes Partners in Excellence Award in 2005. He has served on the membership committee, UDC committee, Parade of Homes Site Selection Committee, board of directors and as vice chair of the construction arbitration board.
Medical Associates Health Centers
Engineered Plastics, Menomonee Falls; Glenroy Inc., Menomonee Falls and Geo-Synthetics Inc. (GSI), Waukesha, contracted with Medical Associates Health Centers, Menomonee Falls. The manufacturing companies will be part of the employee health management program and receive health risk assessment (HRA) programs for their employees. Medical Associates provides each participating employee with a confidential, comprehensive report of their health status and a personalized health risk assessment. Individual employee information is not shared with employers. Companies receive statistical reports that identify categories of highest health risk among their specific employee group. The reports enable the companies to work with Medical Associates health management specialists to develop and deliver customized health promotion programs to reduce the risks present in their employee populations.
Backlot Imaging Inc. and
Marcus Theatres Corp.
Backlot Imaging Inc., Milwaukee, and Marcus Theatres Corp., Milwaukee, will partner to create the Marcus Theatres Lobby Channel. The Lobby Channel will consist of programs that include entertainment and advertising content and will be displayed on flat panel video screens in the lobbies of several Marcus Theatres. Backlot will provide production services for businesses that wish to advertise on the Lobby Channel and will represent Marcus Theatres as an extension of its sales force to sell and market air time.
Marquette University
Marquette University, Milwaukee, will offer a graduate certificate in law enforcement leadership through its College of Professional Studies. The certificate will be available beginning in the fall of 2006. The program offers law enforcement officers the opportunity to advance their career by strengthening their management and leadership skills. Individuals that complete the graduate certificate program will be able to apply the 12 credits earned toward a master’s degree in public service with a specialization in administrative justice. Applicants must be currently employed as law enforcement officers, have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university and three letters of recommendation to qualify for the program. Courses will include the study of policies in policing, legal issues in law enforcement, economics and budgeting of policing and police leadership and ethics.
4 P’s in a Pod LLC
4 P’s in a Pod LLC recently opened at 1930-B Bluemound Rd., Waukesha. 4 P’s in a Pod is a custom caterer. The company provides hot lunch programs to southern Waukesha County elementary and middle schools. 4 P’s in a Pod also offers catering services throughout the greater Milwaukee area for weddings, business events, cocktail receptions and other celebrations.
Illingworth Corp.
Michael Mamayek of Illingworth Corp., Milwaukee, received the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) Contractor of the Year Award. Mamayek will serve as chair of the association’s indoor air quality guidelines task force this year and is a member of the technical resources committee. Mamayek is also a member of the HVAC contractors council steering committee, the National Energy Management Institute (NEMI) and its center for energy management and building technology; the International Training Institute (ITI) HVAC systems curriculum task force and the ITI physical standards task force. Mamayek served on the SMACNA board of directors from 1998 to 2002.
Wisconsin Association for
Caregiver Excellence
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 150, Milwaukee, retained The Steinhauer Group LLC, Madison, to establish the Wisconsin Association for Caregiver Excellence (WACE). With WACE, the SEIU aims to develop a not for profit, tax exempt, independent, autonomous and non-union controlled entity of direct care workers that would serve the educational needs of all direct care workers in Wisconsin. The central mission of WACE is to enhance professional development of all direct care workers in Wisconsin, regardless of union status. The Steinhauer Group will set up all necessary structures to ensure that WACE is an autonomous organization in control of its own assets.

Mequon Vascular Associates S.C. recently opened the Mequon Vein & Laser Center located at 11725 N. Port Washington Road, Mequon. The center specializes in non-surgical treatment of varicose veins. Doctors Vida Savickiene, Bo Eaton and Thomas Eaton practice at the center. They have a combined 10 years of experience in the specialty and previously practiced in Brookfield and at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa.
