National Survey & Engineering

National Survey & Engineering a Division of R.A. Smith & Associates, Inc., Brookfield, provided site design and landscape architectural services to Liberty Property Trust for Liberty Corporate Preserve Business Park in Oak Creek. Sustainable features of National’s design include hybrid car parking, sustainable storm-water management and water-efficient landscaping.

VJS Construction Services

Brown Deer School District has made VJS Construction Services, Pewaukee, the general contractor for its renovation and remodeling project. Larry Gilroy has been named the senior project manager; Rick Zimmerman the project manager and Mark Sowinski the superintendent. Plunket Raysich Architects will provide architectural services. The project involves renovations and remodeling in four phases. Phase I consists of upgrades to bathrooms and ADA. Phase I and Phase II involves remodeling of biology, chemistry, physics, business classrooms, teacher work areas, and remodeling of the computer lab. Phase IV entails conversion of the auxiliary gym into an auditorium/theatre. The project has an anticipated completion date of August 2008.

ARI, Milwaukee, received the 2007 Dealers Choice Award in the Business Services category for WebsiteSmart Pro, ARI’s website solution for dealers. The award was presented by Power Equipment Trade magazine at the close of the 2007 GIE+EXPO Lawn and Garden Equipment and Services tradeshow held in Louisville, Ky. The event drew more than 20,000 visitors, including more than 7,000 lawn and garden power equipment dealers and retailers. Winners of the Dealers Choice Awards are selected based on votes cast by dealers attending the show and recognize the best products in five categories: handheld, wheeled, power sports/recreation, accessory/attachment and business services.

Medical College of Wisconsin

Medical College of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa, has received a four-year, $533,656 grant from the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. The grant will be used to analyze outcomes of children following pediatric emergency department care for minor injuries. The team, lead by  Dr. Martha Molly Stevens, assistant professor of pediatric emergency medicine, aims to develop a quantitative outcomes measure for children after emergency department care and discharge and create a predictive tool to identify children at risk for poor outcomes. She is based at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

TDS Metrocom

Jon Ollmann, a regional market manager for Madison based TDS MetroCom, recieved MargaretAnn’s Place ‘Living Legacy Award.’ He is the first Milwaukee resident to receive award. The award is presented to an exemplary citizen for their contributions and volunteerism to MargaretAnn’s Place. Ollmann began volunteering with the nonprofit organization in 2005. He serves on the organization’s board of directors and played an integral role in the success of the 2007 Humor, Hope and Healing fundraiser in Milwaukee. MargaretAnn’s Place is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the distinctive needs of children and their families who are grieving the death of a loved one. The organization, founded in 1998, was the first center for grieving children in Wisconsin.

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

The UW-Milwaukee Research Foundation will fund three research projects in 2008 under its Catalyst Grant Program in Advanced Automation. The $170,000 in catalyst program funds are a part of the five-year, $1 million gift to UW-Milwaukee from Rockwell Automation announced in January 2007. Rockwell envisions the gift as a first step toward a technology research program at the university that will support the region’s advanced manufacturing and automation industry. In addition to bolstering UWM’s advanced automation research, long-term objectives of the Catalyst Grant Program include strengthening regional corporate partnerships, promoting collaborative research, and creating internship and employment opportunities for UW-Milwaukee students and graduates.

VanderBloemen Rodrigues & Associates LLC

VanderBloemen Rodrigues & Associates LLC, Waukesha, has changed its name to The VanderBloemen Group, LLC. They have also added Jon Hilgendorf, CPA and John VanderBloemen, CPA, as partners of the firm. Eric Carlson, CPA has also joined the staff as senior manager.
