Tailored Label Products Inc.

Tailored Label Products Inc. (TLP), Menomonee Falls, received a first place and second place award in the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute label competition. Both awards were in the plateless printing, household goods category. The first place honors were for a packaging label for Cambria, a natural quartz surface manufacturing company based in Eden Prairie, Minn. Second place honors were for TLP’s work on a label for Crossville Inc., Crossville, Tenn., a porcelain stone manufacturer. Another Wisconsin-based company that placed in the annual label competition was Banta Specialty Converting, a division of Banta Corp., Menasha. Banta received first place in the Line and Screen Tone-Non Prime category and second place in the Line and Screen Tone-Prime category, both for work done for Briggs & Stratton Corp., Wauwatosa.

Jewish Family Services Inc.

Jewish Family Services Inc. (JFS), Milwaukee, received a $43,000 grant from the Hebrew Immigration Aid Society (HIAS), N.Y., to begin a program under its Healthy Marriages Initiative. Funding provides support for the first year of a five-year project that will address relationship issues for couples from the former Soviet Union and the former Yugoslavia. Courses will focus on developing communication skills in a new cultural environment; parental communication as a role model for children; conflict resolution and potential financial challenges.

Integrity Retirement Plan Services LLC

David Hobbs Honda, Glendale, and Gahn Meat Company Inc., Milwaukee, selected Integrity Retirement Plan Services LLC, Waukesha, as a third party administrator for their retirement plan.

Aurora Health Care Inc.

Aurora Health Care Inc., Milwaukee, made a $140,000, multi-year investment in the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW), Milwaukee, to advance its mission of providing HIV medical, dental and mental health care services and to help assure access to comprehensive health care for all HIV patients regardless of their ability to pay. Aurora committed $90,000 in general operating support for the ARCW Medical Center and has made an additional lead donation of $50,000 to support an ARCW capital campaign to expand and renovate the Medical Center. The expansion and renovation of the ARCW Medical Center began in January 2007 and is expected to be completed by September.

American Signal Corp.

American Signal Corp., Milwaukee, received a 2007 ThinkGlobal/Commercial News USA Exporter of the Year award from ThinkGlobal Inc., publisher of Commercial News USA, the official export promotion magazine of the U.S. Commerce Department. American Signal was named Exporter of the Year in the Safety & Security category. Winners were chosen based on the total number of documented export deals completed in 2005, total percentage increase in sales in 2005 compared to 2004, exports as percentage of total sales, the company’s commitment to exporting, the company’s commitment to customer service and the company’s innovation and originality in marketing products or services. The company reported total export sales of $759,784 in 2005, a 100 percent increase from 2004. With continued focus in international opportunities, American Signal plans to increase its export level to 25 percent of total sales within the next two years. American Signal was one of 15 winners and the only Wisconsin company to receive this award.

The Milwaukee Mile

The Milwaukee Mile, West Allis, partnered with Gordon Flesch Co., Madison, in a multi-year marketing partnership agreement, making Gordon Flesch The Milwaukee Mile office equipment provider through the 2009 season. The Gordon Flesch Co. will provide office equipment for race operations on event weekends in addition to providing the latest office equipment and support to The Milwaukee Mile business and ticket offices.

Medical College of Wisconsin

The Medical College of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa, received a four-year $1.16 million grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute to expand the work of a faculty research team that is focused on advancing our understanding of the medical implications of inadequate sleep. Work conducted at the Medical College and the VA Medical Center-Milwaukee, by Carol Everson, associate professor of neurology, and her team have shown that sleep restriction in the rat model leads to metabolic disturbance, dramatic increases in food consumption and decreased leptin, a hormonal signal secreted from fat cells that is important in regulating appetite and fat deposition. Functional changes due to hormones, inflammatory molecules and obesity are known to be important elements in the development of several disease states. Also contributing to these studies are Medical College colleagues Dr. Ahmed Kissebah, professor of medicine and director of the obesity research center and Dr. Natalia Markelova assistant professor of pathology.

The Networking Community LLC

The Networking Community LLC (TNC), Menomonee Falls, formed a networking partnership with Jill Haupt, senior vice president of the southeast region of Associated Bank, Green Bay. TNC will offer monthly networking educational training and workshop sessions to the 70 Associated Bank branches located in the southeast region. Associated Bank will become the exclusive banking sponsor for the Midwest for the networking column, “Tales from The Networking Community – Networking, like life, is a Process, not an Event,” created by Dan Williams, chief executive officer of TNC. Associated Bank will also be a gold sponsor at the monthly power networking events hosted by TNC networking groups in Wisconsin.

FM Industries LLC

FM Industries LLC, Menomonee Falls, entered an exclusive supply contract with Leggett & Platt, Carthage, Mo., to supply all of the AC vibration/massage motors for Leggett & Platt locations in North America and England.

Kolb+Co.

Kolb+Co., Brookfield, formed Kolb+Co. Medical Software Solutions LLC, a single member LLC of Kolb+Co. Medical Billing LLC. The new company was formed as an expansion of Kolb+Co.’s services to medical practices and to accommodate a partnership with Electronic Healthcare Systems (EHS), Birmingham, Ala., as the regional implementation team of EHS’ CareRevolution software package in Wisconsin and Minnesota. CareRevolution is a comprehensive, seamless application for practice management and electronic medical records.
