The iPic Movie Theater located in the Bayshore Town Center has launched the first-ever iPic Members Film Festival. Milwaukee area residents can submit a two to six minute film produced around the theme “Earth Preservation.”
“This is a national competition put together by corporate,” said Michele Ripp, Friday, Feb. 10. The first round of voting will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 15 and last through Wednesday, March 14.
“Fans will be able to vote for their favorite local films through the Bayshore iPic Facebook Page,” Ripp said.
The top 240 films, or 40 from each of the eight iPic locations, will advance to the second round of the competition, Ripp said.
The second and third round of the competitions will be movie theater screenings of the films. Movie goers will have an opportunity to cast their vote for their favorites and a panel of judges will judge the films based on overall quality, effectiveness of the environmental message, originality and entertainment value. Public voting will account for 20 percent of the overall rating each film receives, Ripp said.
The winner of the competition will be announced on April 22. The winning movie will be featured in pre-shows at all iPic Theaters for the month of May and will also received a $4,000. The first and second runners up will receive a $250 and a $150 iPic gift card respectively.
“At iPic Theaters, we’re creating a new, immersive film-going experience and culture. This film festival is a way to celebrate our commitment to preserving our Earth, through the eyes of our members. It also allows us to showcase the creativity and diversity of our members and invite them to participate in the culture of iPic Theaters.” said Mark Mulcahy, vice president of marketing, iPic Theaters. “Our guests can count on finding something new, intriguing and satisfying every time they visit iPic Theaters, no matter their tastes.”
