Baird expert will keynote Humana Wellness Summit

Lisa Mrozinski, total rewards manager of benefits and first vice president of Milwaukee-based Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc., will help local employers and human resource directors learn how to launch and develop a robust employee wellness program at the upcoming Humana Wellness Council to be presented by BizTimes Media.

 

Mrozinski will share insights about how the investment firm launched the program and expanded it, as well as the positive impacts the program has had on the company and its employees. Mrozinski is a member of the board of directors of the Wellness Council of Wisconsin.

As the Affordable Care Act is implemented, employers’ vested stakes in the health and well-being of their employees will be greater than ever.

To address this growing concern, the Wellness Summit will provide the latest and greatest information to enhance employee wellness.

BizTimes invites employers and human resource directors to bring their employees to the conference, which will feature experts in various realms of wellness, including: cardiocare; exercise and fitness; nutrition; and emotional and mental health.

In addition to Mrozinski, the experts who will share wellness insights at the BizTimes Wellness Summit include:

* Cardiocare – Cardiologist Bijoy K. Khandheria, M.D., Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. He is a former president of the American Society of Echocardiography. Khandheria will share the latest scientific knowledge about how to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease.

* Exercise and fitness – Jason Warwick, manager of personal training for the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee, where he leads a team of certified personal trainers who closely work with members and community participants to help them achieve their fitness goals. Warwick will discuss keys to establishing an effective workout routine.

* Nutrition – Connie Roethel, R.N. MSH, president of Core Health Group, a provider of comprehensive worksite wellness programs. Roethel will provide an update on the role of nutrition in maintaining a healthy workforce and suggestions on how to incorporate nutrition activities into wellness programing.

* Emotional and mental health – Karen Vernal, president of Vernal Management Consultants LLC, a Milwaukee-based leadership and organizational firm dedicated to “igniting the spirit and skills of leaders.” The company is one of two firms in the nation to be certified in emotional intelligence through the Institute for Health and Human Potential. Vernal also writes a regular column for BizTimes Milwaukee.

The opening remarks of the conference will be provided by Kristine Seymour, president of Humana Inc.’s Wisconsin market.
