Aurora Health Care is opening on Wednesday a multidisciplinary cancer clinic for breast cancer patients at its clinic at 6811 118th Ave. in Kenosha.
The clinic will offer benefits including additional convenience, so that patients can meet with all of their physicians at the same appointment; cancer nurse navigators to serve as a patient’s personal guide throughout the treatment process; and efficient diagnostics.
“For someone diagnosed with breast cancer, it can seem like they’re given an endless list of physicians and appointments,” said Dr. Sana Jeffreys, oncologist at Aurora Health Center in Kenosha. “The new Aurora breast multidisciplinary cancer clinic brings together all of the patient’s physicians into one place which helps eliminate the need for extra appointments and communication breakdowns between all of the different practices.”
Added Jamie Cairo, nurse practitioner and director of cancer integration for Aurora Health Care: “Cancer Nurse Navigators play a key role in our patient’s cancer care. Cancer Nurse Navigators are personal advocates for the patients and are there to help answer any questions throughout the patient’s entire journey.”
Space for the clinic was designed when the Aurora Kenosha Cancer Center was built in 2014, but the space will begin to be fully utilized this week. The clinic will be run by existing staff members.
