At Home, a Plano, Texas-based chain of home décor stores, plans to open its first Wisconsin store on Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa, according to a Milwaukee commercial real estate source.
The Kmart store at 3201 N. Mayfair Road will be converted into an At Home store, according to the source. The Kmart store is scheduled to close on June 21.
In April Kmart Corp., a subsidiary of Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Sears Holing Corp., informed state officials that it would close the Wauwatosa store, which will eliminate 103 jobs.
The Wauwatosa Kmart store is located in a hot retail development area. The site is just east of the mixed-use Mayfair Collection development at U.S. Highway 45 and Burleigh Street, which includes Northstrom Rack and Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th stores and will later add a Whole Foods store.
At Home has 89 stores in 24 states, but none in Wisconsin. There are two At Home locations in the Chicago area.
