Assurant Health, through efforts of the Assurant Foundation, is awarding $230,000 to seven area organizations focused on improving the lives of people facing hunger, homelessness and struggles with health and wellness, according to an announcement made Wednesday.
“Assurant Health is very pleased to provide these grants to support community members in need,” said Adam Lamnin, chief executive officer and president of Assurant Health. “Our company has been headquartered in Wisconsin for 120 years, and we are committed to supporting the work of these seven agencies to improve the lives of children and families in Milwaukee.
Assurant Health’s grant initiatives aim to provide necessities like food and shelter to underprivileged children and also positively impact their health, Lamnin said.
Donations are made possible through the insurance provider’s charitable branch, Assurant Foundation.
Grant recipient agencies are:
*Hunger Task Force – $50,000
*Guest House – $50,000
*Pathfinders, Inc. – $40,000
*COA Youth and Family Centers – $35,000
*Milwaukee Rescue Mission – $30,000
*Penfield Children’s Center – $15,000
*Pearls for Teen Girls – $10,000
“We’ve always been a forward-thinking organization providing innovative services, but this gift from Assurant Health, through the Assurant Foundation, is catapulting us forward,” said Cindy Krahenbuhl, executive director of The Guest House. “This will allow us to transition and implement a program calling Housing First to get people into a place they can call their own rather than requiring them to stay a lengthy time in a shelter.”
