Alterra Coffee and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at UW-Milwaukee will kick off the 2012 Música del Lago concert series at Alterra’s lakefront café tonight.
The annual summer series highlights some of Milwaukee’s finest Latin music groups. The bands perform a variety of styles – ranging from jazz to salsa to bossa nova – and help promote the culture and traditions of Latin America, where Alterra sources many of its coffees.
Música del Lago will complement the Florentine at the Lake series, now in its ninth year, which takes place on alternating Thursdays. All shows are free and begin at 7 p.m. Lo Nuestro will kick off the concert series with a performance tonight.
