The AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW) will use a recent $50,000 donation from Cary and Susie Silverstein through the Baye Foundation to match the electronic health records of patients receiving services in both its dental and mental clinics.

The nonprofit organization’s new electronic health record project, which will cost about $100,000, will connect the dental health records and medical health records of patients receiving dual care. This advancement will allow AIDS Resource Center patients to receive high-quality care in both clinics.

“Today, 78 percent of ARCW patients are successfully managing their HIV, compared to only 25 percent nationally,” said ARCW President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Gifford. “With the generous support of Cary and Susie through their foundation, ARCW will be better able to deliver outstanding patient care and help more of our patients achieve this heath care outcome.”

ARCW, based in Milwaukee, supports families and individuals impacted by AIDS with medical and dental services as well as a pharmacy and social services. The nonprofit also offers prevention services to individuals with an increased risk of contracting HIV.

Cary and Susie Silverstein, who are residents of Fox Point, have regularly donated to ARCW for the past 20 years. Cary, president and chief executive officer of SMA LLA and The Negotiating Edge, also regularly contributes guest columns to BizTimes Milwaukee.
