WHAT HAS FUELED YOUR COMPANY’S GROWTH? The same things that have fueled our growth also make us special in the marketplace. Abri is a locally owned and operated HMO in Wisconsin. Two of Abri’s owners and strategic partners are Independent Physician’s Network (IPN) and Serve You Custom Prescription Management. This local provider ownership gives Abri a unique perspective in the marketplace. In addition, our belief in providing prompt service and payment to providers and superior customer service to our members has also differentiated us in the marketplace.
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST OBSTACLE TO YOUR COMPANY’S GROWTH? The biggest obstacle is some providers’ reluctance to provide services to Medicaid/BadgerCare Plus recipients. This results in a shortage of medical and dental providers, which hinders our abililty to provide choices to our members. Providers are reluctant to accept continuing reimbursement shortfalls and increasing regulatory burdens.
DO YOU PLAN ANY CHANGES IN YOUR COMPANY IN THE UPCOMING MONTHS? Abri is currently working on expansion into northern and western counties with both our Medicaid and Medicare Advantage products. In anticipation of growth, we recently signed a building lease extension doubling our office space for 2009.
WHO ARE THE BUSINESS PEOPLE, LOCALLY OR NATIONALLY, WHOM YOU ADMIRE? AND WHAT TRAITS DO THOSE PEOPLE EXHIBIT THAT MAKE YOU ADMIRE THEM? Dr. Noemi Prieto and other physicians who remain independent practitioners and provide services to Medicaid patients.
WHAT IS THE OUTLOOK FOR THE BUSINESS CONDITIONS OF YOUR INDUSTRY OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS? Wisconsin’s political leadership is very innovative and supportive of the expansion of government/private sector partnerships for the purpose of increasing the number of Wisconsin residents who have health coverage. This makes our current market very promising in terms of growth.
