Class of 2024

John Weinfurter started his career working 20 years on Capitol Hill as chief of staff to the late U.S. Rep. Joe Moakley (D-MA), chairman of the House Rules Committee.

While working in Congress, Weinfurter was president of the Congressional Economic Leadership Institute, a bipartisan foundation designed to educate legislators about economic issues. He administered more than 200 sessions in Congress and brought CEOs, foreign heads of state and other stakeholders together in forums on economic growth and productivity. He also held hundreds of fundraisers for Wisconsin and national Democrats.

In 2016, Weinfurter joined Capstone National Partners, a government affairs and public policy firm with offices in Milwaukee and Washington, D.C. Weinfurter is the current president emeritus of the House Chiefs of Staff Alumni Association.

“As one of Capstone’s senior partners, John provides the Milwaukee business community with government relations services and strategic counsel,” said Chris Czarnecki, senior associate at Capstone. “He works with clients from a variety of industries including health care, energy, financial services, international development, and defense among others. John is also considered a friend, mentor, and trusted advisor to many.”
