Amy Lindner, who became president of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County in 2018, has been named its chief executive officer.

Lindner succeeds Mary Lou Young, who was president and CEO of the organization from 2009 to 2018. Young retained the position of CEO until her retirement this month.
During her first year with the organization, Lindner helped United Way reach its 2018 campaign goal of $56 million. She is the first Latina president and CEO of the organization.
Prior to working for United Way, Lindner was president and CEO of Meta House, a Milwaukee-based nonprofit and United Way program partner agency.
“I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from Mary Lou over this past year,” Lindner said. “I am deeply honored to lead United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County and build on its rich history of strengthening our local communities and fighting for the health, education, and financial stability of every person.”
During her decade at the helm, Young helped grow United Way’s fundraising and volunteerism efforts, including overseeing its record $60 million campaign in 2017. She also oversaw the merger of the former United Way of Greater Milwaukee and United Way in Waukesha County in 2015.
