New Berlin-based Landmark Credit Union today announced it is working on plans to move its headquarters to a new, larger building in Brookfield.

The Landmark Credit Union headquarters in New Berlin.

The company is currently based in a 60,000-square-foot headquarters at 5445 S. Westridge Drive in New Berlin. It is considering buying a 19.5-acre site at 555 S. Executive Drive in Brookfield, where it would tear down the existing structure and build a 150,000- to 160,000-square-foot office building to house its headquarters and training facilities.

Landmark said it is in the “early stages” of due diligence on the site, which is located along I-94, in cooperation with Eppstein Uhen Architects. It aims to create a workspace outfitted with modern technology, employee amenities and collaboration areas that can be expanded later to accommodate its growth, the company said.

The credit union has $3.9 billion in assets and more than 650 employees working out of 31 locations in southeastern Wisconsin. The new headquarters would house more than 300 employees who are currently at the New Berlin headquarters, as well as other area offices. And the company plans to retain its 35,000-square-foot office in New Berlin, where it has its Business Lending, Landmark Investment Center and mortgage employees, and a full-service branch.

“This new headquarters is a direct reflection of our great Landmark Credit Union team and our wonderful growing membership base,” said Jay Magulski, president and chief executive officer. “For 85 years, we have consistently helped our members meet their everyday financial needs and achieve their long-term financial goals. As we look to the future, we know we need a home for our dedicated associates that can grow with us.”

“We look forward to working with Landmark Credit Union on this project, and ultimately to welcoming them to the City of Brookfield,” said Mayor Steven Ponto. “Landmark’s commitment not only to serving their members, but to creating strong, healthy communities makes them a neighbor Brookfield can be proud to have as part of our city.”
