The $33 million project includes 153 residential units and 10,000 square feet of commercial and office space at 1832 N. Farwell Ave. and 1840 N. Farwell Ave.

Milwaukee chef and restaurateur Justin Carlisle is planning to open a casual dining restaurant on the first floor of the tower.

The project is being developed by James Wiechmann of Wiechmann Enterprises.

The properties are owned by New Land Enterprises, which is in the process of selling the parcels to Wiechmann for $2.3 million, said New Land owner Tim Gokhman

The project is expected to be complete in April 2018.

Gokhman and Wiechmann have been working on several projects in the city. They will begin construction in the next 30 to 45 days on a five-story apartment building at 1623-1639 N. Jackson St. The Rhythm, a 140-unit high-end apartment building at 1632 N. Water St. that they are developing together, will be completed in March.

In May, Gokhman purchased the Renaissance Book Shop buildings on North Plankinton Avenue. He is in the process of razing the buildings and deciding what to do with the downtown property along the Milwaukee River.

He said the future of the 4th Street and Wisconsin Avenue site will have a lot to do with his decision.
