Glendale-based multi-industrial firm Johnson Controls Inc. and Cork, Ireland-based fire protection and security solutions company Tyco International PLC today announced the members of the executive team that will lead the company formed by their merger.
The companies announced in January they would merge, and place the combined firm’s headquarters in Ireland. The merger is expected to close on or around Oct. 1 and the new company will be called Johnson Controls plc.
As previously announced, Johnson Controls chairman and chief executive officer Alex Molinaroli will serve as chairman and CEO of the merged company for the first 18 months. After that, he will serve a one-year term as executive chair. Tyco CEO George Oliver will serve as president and chief operating officer for the first 18 months, then will become chief executive officer. After another 12 months, he will become chairman and chief executive officer.
When Johnson Controls plc is formed, the following people will serve as corporate executive officers reporting to Molinaroli:
- Grady Crosby, vice president, public affairs and chief diversity officer at Johnson Controls Inc. will retain his role;
- Simon Davis, vice president and chief human resources officer at Johnson Controls Inc. will retain his role;
- Kim Metcalf-Kupres, vice president and chief marketing officer at Johnson Controls Inc., will retain her role;
- Judy Reinsdorf, executive vice president and general counsel at Tyco, will retain her role;
- John Repko, chief information officer and enterprise transformation leader at Tyco, will serve as vice president and chief information officer;
- Brian Stief, executive vice president and chief financial officer at Johnson Controls Inc., will retain his role;
- Jeff Williams, vice president, operations and engineering at Johnson Controls Inc., will retain his role.
The following people will serve as business leaders, reporting to Oliver:
- Bill Jackson will be executive vice president and president of Building Efficiency;
- Trent Nevill will be vice president and president of Asia Pacific;
- Colleen Repplier will be president of Fire Protection Products;
- Girish Rishi will be executive vice president, North America Integrated Solutions & Services at Tyco Retail Solutions;
- Mike Ryan will be president of Security Products and Life Safety Products;
- Johan Pfeiffer will be executive vice president of Rest of the World Integrated Solutions & Services;
- Joe Walicki will be vice president and president of Power Solutions.
There were some Johnson Controls executives excluded from the new leadership teams.
Brian Cadwaller, current vice president, secretary and general counsel for Johnson Controls Inc., was not named to a new executive role. He was previously named as a Johnson Controls executive sponsor for the legal department in the integration of the companies.
Suzanne Vincent, current vice president and corporate controller at Johnson Controls Inc.; Frank Voltolina, current vice president and corporate treasurer at Johnson Controls Inc.; and Susan Davis, current executive vice president for Asia Pacific at Johnson Controls Inc., have not been named to new executive positions.
“We’re working through this integration plan,” said Fraser Engerman, spokesman for Johnson Controls. “Additional senior leaders will be named as the transition continues.”
Johnson Controls Inc. also is in the process of spinning off its automotive seating business into a new company, Adient Ltd., which will be based in London.
In March, Johnson Controls and Tyco named the team that will lead the integration of the large global companies. Michael Bartschat, who currently serves as vice president, chief procurement officer on the Johnson Controls Inc. executive team, is co-leading the new Integration Management Office.
Johnson Controls currently has about 3,400 employees in the Milwaukee area and 150,000 worldwide. Tyco has 57,000 employees in more than 900 locations.
