Humorous Associated Bank commercial to air during Super Bowl

Customer service-focused ad will run in its major markets

Among the companies vying for most memorable commercial during Super Bowl 50 on Sunday will be one thatโ€™s familiar to Milwaukee area residents: Associated Bank.

The bank, which is based in Green Bay and has a major presence in the Milwaukee market, will broadcast its ad in Milwaukee, Green Bay, Eau Claire, Wausau, La Crosse, Madison and in the Minneapolis/St. Paul market.

Associated said the commercial will encourage viewers to challenge their banksโ€™ customer service by poking fun at poor restaurant service. View a preview of the commercial below:

While the bank wouldnโ€™t disclose the cost of running the ad during an expensive time slot like the Super Bowl, the investment was an efficient one for reaching a large number of consumers and launching a larger ad campaign, said Christopher Piotrowski, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Associated. A nationally broadcasted ad during the game costs about $5 million.

โ€œWhen we chose to do this, we thought through a few different angles form a business strategy standpoint,โ€ Piotrowski said. โ€œThis is the one time of year that you actually have one of the largest audiencesโ€ who are actively engaging with the advertisements.
