The Highland House restaurant in Sheboygan will be converted into a Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub, according to an announcement today.

It will be the fifth location in the state for Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub. The existing locations are at Bayshore Town Center in Glendale, Lake Geneva, Madison and Wisconsin Dells. The Bayshore Town Center location opened in 2013.

The Highland House is located at 820 Indiana Ave. in Sheboygan, along the Sheboygan River. It is a beach themed restaurant that serves Mexican, Caribbean and California cuisine.

Highland House will close at the end of January, and plans to reopen in May as a Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub. The Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub concept was conceived by Madison-based Capitol Cuisine LLC, which maintains all management and ownership of Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub operations. Longtime Highland House operating partner Tom DeMarsh is retiring. The restaurant’s remaining owners, Paul Weaver and Steve Schmitt, are in the process of rebranding the restaurant.

Renovations to the restaurant building are expected to begin in February.

“We’ll begin renovations to our restaurant, including a physical makeover, bringing the Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub brand to both the interior and exterior of the restaurant,” Weaver said.

Weaver and Schmitt plan to add additional partners to the business, according to a news release.

“The entire ownership group places a tremendous value on our loyal team members and our devoted and extensive customer base,” said Weaver. “Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are. We do everything with our customers first and foremost in our minds, and are continuing to do that throughout this process.”
