Walker has cash advantage down the stretch

GOP guv candidate Scott Walker raised $2.9 million from Aug. 31 to Oct. 18, easily beating Democrat Tom Barrett’s total of $1.3 million over that period, according to their campaign finance reports released this week.
Walker spent $3.5 million during the pre-election period, leaving him with
$828,164 left in the bank for the final two weeks of the campaign.
Milwaukee Mayor Barrett spent $3 million in the period and had about $800,000 cash on hand going into the home stretch.
Walker, the Milwaukee County exec, outspent Barrett on TV during the pre-election period, dropping $2.8 million on the tube while Barrett spent $2.1 million. That period included the final two weeks of the primary season, in which Walker beat back a challenge from home builder Mark Neumann.
Also, in what will likely end up as the most expensive legislative race, state Rep. Leah Vukmir of Wauwatosa reported raising $175,076 and spending $214,651 in her race against Dem Sen. Jim Sullivan in the 5th SD. She had $91,008 cash on hand at the end of the period, which spanned from Aug. 31 through Oct. 18.
