The latest Rasmussen Poll indicates Republican Ron Johnson is widening his lead over Democrat Russ Feingold in the U.S. Senate race.
Johnson had the support of 54 percent of the poll respondents, while Feingold received 42 percent. The 12-point gap is the widest so far for Johnson. Two percent preferred some other candidate, and two percent were undecided.
The latest numbers move the race to “Leans Republican” from a “Toss-Up” in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Balance of Power rankings.
Two weeks ago, Johnson held a 51 to 44 lead.
The survey of 750 Likely Voters in Wisconsin was conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 29, by Rasmussen Reports, which is generally regarded as a Republican-leaning polling organization.
The liberal activist group MoveOn.org announced today it raised $500,000 from its members to support Feingold, calling the Wisconsin Senator a “progressive hero.”
