Aurora to move HQ to Walker’s Point, Brookfield office building sold for $1.1 million

Aurora to move HQ to Walker’s Point
Aurora Health Care plans to move its headquarters from a building at 3000 W. Montana St. near the Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center on Milwaukee’s south side to a 72,000-square-foot building at 750 W. Virginia St. in The Tannery complex in the city’s Walker’s Point neighborhood.
About 240 Aurora employees will work in the new headquarters building. The employees that will move there include Aurora’s senior leadership team, human resources, finance, legal, compliance, business development, communications and other corporate service areas.
Some of the employees will be moved from Aurora’s current headquarters in the former Heil Company plant at 3000 W. Montana, and an office building at 3307 W. Forest Home Ave.
Aurora said it will announce soon plans to consolidate other administrative and clinical operations. Some employees will be moved from other locations to the former Heil building and the Forest Home building, said spokesman Michael Brophy.
“(The new headquarters) will create kind of a domino effect (of employee relocation),” he said. “We will have a few moves.”
Aurora said in relocating its headquarters it will, “realize cost savings as a result of clinical and operational efficiencies that will result from having executive and administrative staff under one roof,” the organization said in a statement.
The building that Aurora will move its headquarters to, known as the Bottling House, is currently vacant and was formerly occupied by American General Life Cos., a subsidiary of American International Group Inc. (AIG), until the company shut down the office last year as AIG experienced massive financial problems and laid off hundreds of employees worldwide.
Aurora is leasing the entire Bottling House building, which is owned by LCM Funds LLC, a local investment group. Aurora is not disclosing details of the agreement except to say in a news release that it has, “entered into a long term lease with a very competitive cost per square foot.”
The three-story building was once the home of the Phillip Best Brewing Company, which later became the Pabst Brewing Company. It was one of two breweries operated by Phillip Best. Later the building was used as a tannery.
“It’s very unique space,” Brophy said. “It is an historic building, with a lot of character.”

Brookfield office building sold for $1.1 million
Access Endodontics recently purchased a 13,000-square-foot office building at 720 Thomas Lane, Brookfield, from Lein/Spiegelhoff Inc. for $1.1 million.
NAI MLG Commercial brokers Jack Jacobson and Joe Powers represented Lein/Spiegelhoff and NAI MLG broker Tim Janusz represented Access Endodontics in brokering the sale.
Access Endodontics, which specializes in root canals, will move from a nearby building and will occupy about 5,000 square feet of the building and will lease out the remaining 8,000 square feet, Janusz said.
Lein/Spiegelhoff, a market research company, went out of business recently, Powers said. A phone call to the company’s listed number was not answered.
