The Hunger Task Force wants to encourage local seniors living on a fixed income to sign up for its Stockbox program.
Wisconsin residents over 60 years old, living on less than $1,174 a month, can sign up to receive free monthly pre-packaged boxes of food. Stockboxes are filled with nutritious items including cheese, canned fruit, canned vegetables, juice, cereal, dried and canned milk, peanut butter, canned meat, dried beans, rice, instant potatoes or pasta. In order to keep the 10,000 boxes available each month, Hunger Task Force needs 10,000 seniors to sign up for the program by July 30. As of today there are only 1,500 boxes remaining. Sign up can be done at Hunger Task Force, 201 S. Hawley Court, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Seniors will receive their first box of food that day and instructions on the site nearest them for future pick-ups. All that is needed to sign up is a photo ID. Income eligibility is self-declared and requires no documentation. Stockbox recipients will continue to get the monthly box for the rest of their lives.
