Oak Creek Common Council to vote on Lake Parkway extension study

Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik and Oak Creek Mayor Dick Bolender will brief the Oak Creek Common Council on Tuesday, April 20, week on the possible southern extension of the 794/Lake Parkway corridor.
The council is expected to vote on whether to support the Lake Parkway extension and ask the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC) to begin a formal study.
“Many residents of Oak Creek interested in saving the Hoan Bridge also understand the need to extend the Lake Parkway’s reach to at least Ryan Road,” Jursik said. “The mayor and common council in Oak Creek play a key role in enhancing this important corridor. Earlier this year, the cities of South Milwaukee and Cudahy unanimously approved seeking this extension. Interested citizens in Oak Creek should attend this meeting as well.”
“I support the proposal that the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission create a study committee to investigate the feasibility of extending the Lake Parkway south through Oak Creek to provide a connection to Racine County,” Bolender said. “It is important that there be an objective study conducted before any decisions are made regarding this proposed project.”
The council meeting will take place at City Hall at 7 p.m.
