J.F. Ahern to build office in Menomonee Valley

Fond du Lac-based J. F. Ahern Co. announced that it plans to construct a new Milwaukee office on a five-acre parcel at the corner of West Canal Street and West Roundhouse in the Menomonee Valley.

The 67,000-square-foot facility will replace the company’s Menomonee Falls location. The facility will house the 65 office employees and support Ahern’s 125 construction and service technicians in the southeast region. The new facility will also enable the relocation of the company’s fire extinguisher recharge facilities.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for spring of 2012.

“We are excited about the opportunities this new facility creates, and the improved client service that will result,” said executive vice president Bob Fischer. “Ahern invests heavily in training our project and service technicians. We will create even greater educational opportunities for employees and clients by investing in a site that improves internal operations. A more central location will also result in more efficient response times throughout greater Milwaukee.”

The Ahern facility will be located in the Menomonee Valley Industrial Center, which is located immediately east of the Miller Park parking lots, and has been a highly successful redevelopment project for the City of Milwaukee. Other companies in the Business Park include Palermo’s, Taylor Dynamometer, Badger Railing, Calefi, Charter Wire, and Derse. Ingeteam is building a facility in the business park and Suzy’s Cheesecakes recently said it will move from St. Francis to a new facility it will build in the business park. Of the 60 acres in the original business park, only eight remain available.

“I am very pleased that Ahern, a company with such a strong reputation, has chosen to grow in Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley,” Mayor Tom Barrett said. “This new location is centrally located, adjacent to neighborhoods that are home to hardworking people, and alongside other companies that are top names in their respective fields. It’s a great place to do business.”
