Spaulding Clinical Research, a research center in a former West Bend hospital, recently introduced the Spaulding IQ, an electrocardiographic machine that uses a microphone and voice-print biometrics to identify a patient.
Spaulding IQ is capable of recording five minutes of raw data and improves the ability of doctors to detect lethal arrhythmias, existing cardiac conditions and potential drug side effects.
Chief executive officer Randy Spaulding believes the cost savings from the Spaulding IQ device will expand the existing cardiac safety market exponentially allowing the company to offer a superior product at a fraction of the cost. The device is opening up an entire new business segment for Spaulding Clinical which will allow for major financial and infrastructure growth over the next two years.
Spaulding describes his business as a “one-stop-shop” in which Spaulding Clinical Research completes every step of the process, including system integration, allowing for faster results compared to their competitors who must work with multiple vendors.
“We allow for greater flexibility for our clients,” Spaulding said. “There is quick turnaround because data is sent electronically. We can meet the needs of our clients in a shorter period of time while still allowing for customization.”
Spaulding is determined to answer many of the questions left unanswered in the clinical research world.
“Our business model is all about innovation,” he said.
