The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors today approved the appointment of Marvin Pratt as the interim county executive.
Pratt, the former interim mayor of Milwaukee, was nominated for the county position by Milwaukee County Board Chairman Lee Holloway. Holloway has been serving as temporary county executive. He is a candidate to become the next elected county executive, but had he become interim county executive, he would have been required to give up his board seat.
Pratt’s appointment was approved by a 14-2 vote on the county board, with Supervisors Mark Borkowski and John Weishan Jr. voting against him.
Pratt will be sworn in as interim county executive on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Milwaukee County Courthouse.
The primary for the county executive race will take place Tuesday, Feb. 15. The top two vote-getters will advance to the general election on April 5.
