MMAC report says Concordia’s economic impact is huge

Concordia University Wisconsin, located in Mequon, has a tremendous impact on the metro Milwaukee economy, according to a study compiled recently by the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.

The report indicates that the gross dollar impact of the university to the region totals $205.7 million ($174.6 million net impact), with more than 1,100 jobs supported, generating $76.6 million in annual payroll. It also shows that state and local taxes by worker earnings total $7.2 million per year.

Founded in 1881, Concordia University Wisconsin’s main campus is located on 200 acres along the Lake Michigan shoreline at 12800 N. Lake Shore Drive, Mequon. The university and its 10 educational centers and classroom locations have 8,161 undergraduate, graduate, traditional and non-traditional students from 46 states and 28 foreign countries. The university offers more than 70 undergraduate majors, 14 master’s degree programs, and doctoral degrees in physical therapy, pharmacy, and nursing practice. Concordia also offers a variety of adult learning opportunities.

The university is affiliated with The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and is a member of the Concordia University System, a nationwide network of colleges and universities.
