Milwaukee to host Water Summit

The Milwaukee Water Council will host its sixth annual Water Summit conference Oct. 9-10 at the Pfister Hotel.

Milwaukee’s Water Summit is one of the leading national platforms for the discussion of water technology and sustainable water solutions. The annual event is attended by policymakers, industry leaders, experts and practitioners from across the world.

The event will feature several nationally and internationally known keynote speakers, including: Pat Mulroy, general manager of the Las Vegas Valley Water District; Peter Ellis, founder and president of Peter Ellis New Cities, and French senate member Christan Cambon.
Other speakers will include Kala Vairavamoorthy, professor of Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Systems at the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education; Nancy Stoner, acting assistant administrator for water for the U.S. EPA; Scott Bryan, chief operating officer of ImagineH20; Vladimir Novotny, partner of AquaNova, LLC; Pete Mulvaney, advisor at Greenleaf Advisors; James Chaffee, president-elect of the American Water Works Association; Adrian Sym, international executive director for the Alliance for Water Stewardship; and Glen Daigger, president and chairman of the International Water Association (IWA).

The Milwaukee Water Council established the Water Summit in July 2007, bringing 80 participants from business, academia, research, investment firms, law firms, environmental groups and government entities together to discuss the Milwaukee region’s extensive resources related to fresh water.

The event has since become national (and international) in scope and last year drew 300 attendees from 18 states and foreign countries. This year’s Water Summit will cover issues ranging from resource management and sustainability to regulatory issues and urban planning. Workshop topics will include “Global Infrastructure Financing,” “Rethinking Infrastructure,” “An Introduction to the New EPA Waste/Stormwater Framework” and “A Water-Centric Developing World.”
