A lens for fashion

Crystal Schreiner, creative director and executive producer for Milwaukee-based deal website GoGeddit.com always loved taking photographs, but never really considered the potential career possibilities until recently. Now, Schreiner has morphed her passion into opportunities and has shot multiple fashion shows including New York Fashion Week and will also have a published photograph in ELLE Magazine later this year.

“I’ve always been really in to art,” Schreiner said. “But the possibility of being a serious freelance photographer is something I’ve only recently become passionate about.”

Schreiner is a recent advertising and creative marketing graduate of Marquette University. Professionally she works as the creative director for GoGeddit.com and executive producer of GoGedditTV.

Schreiner shot photographs for Macy’s annual Glamorama fashion show last year, and also was a street photographer at New York Fashion Week for an online fashion company called Refinery29.com.

She has flown to New York and met with other professional photographers and hopes to eventually make this a career.

Right now, it’s a passion. Schreiner plans to experiment until she can find her niche. She loves fashion photography, but also likes to incorporate her passion for advertising and branding into her photography skills to help brands illustrate a story as well.

“I like fashion, but I wouldn’t say I’m striving to shoot strictly fashion photography,” Schreiner said. “Fashion looks beautiful in photographs. The vibrant colors and styles and weird abstract things that aren’t normal speak through the photographs. Photography is about capturing moments. They are timeless. That’s why everybody loves photographs.”

Schreiner plans to continue her career at GoGeddit.com while also shooting freelance photography in a variety of different venues. To see more photographs from Schreiner, visit www.crystalschreiner.com.
