Officials at Milwaukee World Festival Inc. will showcase the extensive 45-year history of Summerfest in partnership with Discovery World in a special tribute exhibition that opens tonight.
The exhibit will showcase the extensive history and memorabilia collected over the past 44 years, including never-before-seen autographed memorabilia, historical photos, posters and promotional items.
“We are excited to share and showcase these Summerfest treasures from the past forty-four years with Milwaukeeans and festival fans,” said John Boler, vice president sales and marketing of Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. “This exhibit will give attendees a unique and up-close view of the music, archives and unforgettable experiences that have made Summerfest an iconic music event and celebrated Milwaukee tradition.”
The exhibit will open to the public tonight and run through September 15. Fans are invited to the exhibit kick-off event tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will include live entertainment in the main entrance and everyone in attendance will receive a free 4th of July Summerfest general admission ticket and 45th Anniversary t-shirt.
Summerfest 2012 will take place Wednesday, June 27 through Sunday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 3 through Sunday, July 8, from noon until midnight daily.
