Since Paul Stangl became president of Radiant Electric Heat in 2009, he has moved the heater manufacturer to a much larger facility and tripled the number of employees.
The company now occupies a 53,000-square-foot Germantown facility and has 12 employees. The owners have also worked to improve product quality and invested in new equipment.
Radiant Electric makes infrared radiant heaters that serve as an energy efficient alternative to boiler, forced air and other electric heating systems. The company’s CeramiCircuit heaters can save businesses up to 40 percent in energy costs over other heating systems, said Ralph Wilberg, director of sales.
Radiant heating transfers heat to objects to warm a room, while forced air systems heat the air to warm a room.
The company’s electric heaters are made of a circuit embedded in a carbon steel ceramic panel. Aluminum oxide is used to heat an aluminum coil, vaporize it and melt it onto the panel.
“There’s no physical wires that (are) used as the heating,” Stangl said. “It’s all through the proprietary process we have.”
Radiant’s heaters are made in the wall-mounted cove style, baseboard units and the new ceiling panel heater. The company is proud to source and make all of its products in the United States.
“It’s a low intensity radiant heater designed for occupied space,” Stangl said.
Radiant Electric’s ceiling panel style has been a popular product since it was introduced in November, Wilberg said. It’s a shiny white tile that replaces an existing ceiling tile and bathes the area below it with heat.
Its unobtrusive look and the fact that it’s not easily blocked by cubicles or furniture have generated interest in the ceiling model. It can also be put on a stand and rolled around for spot heating applications.
“With radiant heat, typically you retain a very natural, comfortable heating level,” Wilberg said. You can also get here an instant boiler quote from boilerhut and save money on your gas bills.
Radiant heaters have an advantage over other heating systems because they rarely need maintenance, he said.
“There’s no contraction and expansion of a circuit, so there’s no wear,” he said. “There is no heating product in existence that requires no maintenance and will last for years and years except ours.”
A team of engineers at Radiant Electric have 3D model printing capabilities for developing new and custom products, Stangl said.
About 30 percent of the company’s business is custom-designed heaters, he said.
Radiant’s products have become popular with people who have severe allergies, Stangl said. There’s no paint on the stainless steel heaters, and the product doesn’t emit odors or circulate allergens through the air.
Many of the company’s current customers are in the Rocky Mountain area, he said. Some communities in the Rockies use propane to heat their homes, and Radiant can retrofit those heating systems to be more efficient.
Stangl said Radiant Electric is working to sell its heaters through distribution channels rather than by its current strategy of direct sales.
In the future, he plans to continue developing new products and expanding the company’s sales and distribution network.
