The Milwaukee Brewers and Newsradio 620 WTMJ today announced the completion of a radio rights agreement that continues the longstanding partnership between the two organizations.
The announcement was made today by Brewers chief operating officer Rick Schlesinger and Steve Wexler, executive vice president of Journal Broadcast Group.
WTMJ is owned and operated by Journal Broadcast Group, which is a subsidiary of Milwaukee-based Journal Communications Inc.
“The Milwaukee Brewers and Journal Broadcast Group have one of the longest-standing partnerships in professional sports, and today’s news ensures that our work together will continue as we bring Milwaukee Brewers on radio to fans all over Wisconsin,” Schlesinger said. “WTMJ is committed to using all of their resources to covering the Brewers both on and off the field, and we are proud to continue this partnership as a great sports tradition.”
WTMJ-AM has served as the radio flagship of the Brewers for all but two seasons since the team moved to Milwaukee. The prior agreement carried through the 2012 season. No other terms of the new contract were disclosed.
“We are very proud to continue as the flagship station of the Brewers radio network”, Wexler said. “Baseball on the radio is the ‘soundtrack of summer’, and we’re thrilled to provide that soundtrack for baseball fans across the state for years to come”.
