Chart Energy announced Tuesday it is laying off 55 workers at its La Crosse plant and will forego a $1.5 million tax rebate on its recent expansion there.
Parent company Chart Energy & Chemicals Inc. of Ohio said the temporary layoff was in response to a slowdown of orders and noted more than 500 additional workers are unaffected.
