Hartland-based Batteries Plus LLC has acquired Jersey, Channel Islands-based LED Hut Ltd., a leading LED lighting product distributor.
Batteries Plus is the operator and franchisor of Batteries Plus Bulbs stores. The acquisition, which is the first Batteries Plus has made in Europe, will increase its market share in lighting.
LED Hut sells its Lumilife branded products throughout Europe on its UK website and also has French and German websites. The company also has a multilingual call center.
“LED Hut is the online market leader in the UK, with a growing presence in pan-European markets as well,” said Russ Reynolds, chief executive officer of Batteries Plus Bulbs. “They have a dynamic management team that we believe can grow even faster with the support of our resources. We consider this more of a merger as we also believe LED Hut’s online expertise will help us with our Omni channel vision here in the U.S.”
Jonathan Ruff, founder and managing director of LED Hut, will retain his leadership role.
